Advance A2 profolio: 2016

The trailer begins with an establishing shot of a mental clinic where inside Mrs Conway and the psychologist are discussing the turn of recent events. An extreme close up on Mrs Conway’s eyes turn into a flashback as she retells the story and how it happened.

She starts from the beginning where one morning her and her husband are cuddling and drinking tea, we get a bit of background into their lives as the camera moves to the forward of the class as Ruby is teaching a lesson, followed by a long shot of Malcolm doing paperwork in the office. Everything seems to be going smooth and steady until they both cradle the baby and Mrs Conway shows signs of a psychosis.

An over the shoulder shot of Mrs Conway shows her washing the dishes when all of a sudden all kitchen appliances start to go off and the baby starts crying which is heard over the monitor. This turns out to be too much for her to handle and a mosquito noise starts in the background we see Mrs Conway standing over the cot where the baby is supposed to be. Across the road she runs into the police station to find her husband, running into any room that will open, she finally finds him sitting in a meeting and tells him what has happened. The Chief Officer consoles them both and reassures them that they will find out what has gone wrong.

Officers starts to check houses and question the neighbours in the area, targeting possible witnesses – the first being their strange and creepy neighbour, followed by the suspicions of a jealous sister. However, both working late one night we see both the Chief and Chris Conway looking into each others eyes, hinting at a possible relationship or a possible affair. Some time in the near future a tense conversation of Mrs Conway accusing the Chief of jealousy occurs.

Shot 1 – Over the shoulder shot of Ruby washing dishes, all kitchen appliances start going off and baby starts crying on the monitor – Dissonant Music

Shot 2 – Low angle upwards tilt of Ruby over the cot

Shot 3 – Long Tracking shot of Ruby running to the police station

Shot 4 – Tracking shot of Ruby running into different offices

Shot 5 – Match-on-Action she enters the room – Whip Pan on to Malcolm – Cheyenne consoles and reassures

Shot 6 – Two Shot of Ruby and Malcolm

Scene 4:

Shot 1 – Long Shots of officers checking houses and question neighbours

Shot 2 – An over the shoulder shot of Cheyenne questions a creepy looking neighbour

Shot 3 – Two Shot of older sister and Malcolm in the kitchen talking when Ruby’s sister visits – “If only you were home”

Shot 4 – Two Shot of the Chief Officer and Malcolm working late showing a subtle touch to hint at a past affair, they look into each others eyes “Its going to be ok” – “we can’t do this again”

Shot 5 – Over the shoulder two shot of Ruby questioning Cheyenne whilst driving in a car.
