The Terminator trailer analysis
The trailer starts of with a disclaimer about being approved to watch the movie. Then the music that is used has a calm tone to it as the song starts of with a piano, as the song 'I'd love to Change The World' by Jetta ominously playing in the background. With the movie using high quality CGI it makes the sci-fi world appear more authentic as war torn modern city that is first shown in trailer, appears more tragic with the melancholic tone of the piano gives the audience an idea that a war has taken place and has destroyed the city, this makes the audience want to know how it happened and why. From then it pre-views a character who is probably a protagonist (John Connor)talking to an audience saying, 'Look at each of you, I see the marks of this long a terrible war' which confirms that the crowd is an army along with the conventions of an action movie having the protagonist (Hero) be authoritative, brave and out spoken as the character John Connor portrays as well as wearing a costume. Then montage editing is used to show the audience what briefly happens in the movie, scenes of futuristic weapons being used, violence, explosions and crashes, out break of windows, cat and mouse chase, massive destruction and the antagonist's face along with the sinister up beat nerve racking music. This enables the audience to feel tensed and after John Connor says 'If we die tonight' suddenly the music starts to increase the tension (Crescendo) the screen blacks out for one second, to emphasise the fact the human race can be servilely swiped out and it will be a tragic. Then in a insant as it fades out from black as he says, 'Man kind will die with us.' Then Paramount Pictures a film distributor pops up, to show that they contributed this movie a famous well known company is only shown for a second as everyone knows there logo along with 'Sky dance production' is shown horizontally going across the screen, then it fades back into the scenes. Trailers show the audience who produced also it is a signature and because these companies are so big, they could persuade people to watch.
se7en Trailer analysis
Fading out from black the audience first sees the logo for 'New Line Cinema' a well known producing company which suggest that the film has a huge budget and most likely to be successful encouraging people to watch the movie if they have like a previous movie produced by them. The next shot is of Brad Pitt portraying a character that audience does not know yet but his character looking bruised with plasters and also wearing a white collar saying, 'Do you like what are you are doing for a living?' suggest it is an integration going on making it obvious that he is a cop as the next shot is of Morgan Freeman is portraying his partner in crime using a torch to look for something, dressed in a detectives coat and hat displaying him as an officer, this shows that they investigating as from their faces they looked horrified. Throughout the trailer there is incidental sound to create an eerie atmosphere later on there is a digtic sound og three shot from a gun whilst a short montage of a window, jar and person's leg this indicates that this could be clues to slove the mystery making the audiencehow they link. Then a short clip of police car with sirens then of a red cross indicating it has soemthing to do with religion whilst there is non diegetic vor
The Last Film I saw in the Cinema
The last film I watched in the cinema was The Great Gatsby directed by Baz Luhrmann based of Scott Fitzgerald's phenomenal novel. I heard about the movie from a friend via twitter and youtube which enable me to share on other social medias. I have read the novel, so I was interested to see how they would portray the story in the movie, comparing it to the classic 1974 original version directed by Jack Clayton. I watched the trailer before the movie so I could have an idea of how it is going to be like even though I know the storyline. The trailer made me feel intrigued to watch the movie, because even though the novel is set in the roaring 20's I was amazed how Luhrmann was able to keep that time period but also add a hint of modernism, with intertwine jazz music with hip hop/RnB/Rap mainstream music which helped today's young audience engage with the trailer and get excited. However the trailer did make me feel worried that the movie was going to be quite distance from the novel and not grasp the true essence of the story.
