The Terminator trailer analysis
The trailer starts of with a disclaimer about being approved to watch the movie. Then the music that is used has a calm tone to it as the song starts of with a piano, as the song 'I'd love to Change The World' by Jetta ominously playing in the background. With the movie using high quality CGI it makes the sci-fi world appear more authentic as war torn modern city that is first shown in trailer, appears more tragic with the melancholic tone of the piano gives the audience an idea that a war has taken place and has destroyed the city, this makes the audience want to know how it happened and why. From then it pre-views a character who is probably a protagonist (John Connor)talking to an audience saying, 'Look at each of you, I see the marks of this long a terrible war' which confirms that the crowd is an army along with the conventions of an action movie having the protagonist (Hero) be authoritative, brave and out spoken as the character John Connor portrays as well as wearing a costume. Then montage editing is used to show the audience what briefly happens in the movie, scenes of futuristic weapons being used, violence, explosions and crashes, out break of windows, cat and mouse chase, massive destruction and the antagonist's face along with the sinister up beat nerve racking music. This enables the audience to feel tensed and after John Connor says 'If we die tonight' suddenly the music starts to increase the tension (Crescendo) the screen blacks out for one second, to emphasise the fact the human race can be servilely swiped out and it will be a tragic. Then in a insant as it fades out from black as he says, 'Man kind will die with us.' Then Paramount Pictures a film distributor pops up, to show that they contributed this movie a famous well known company is only shown for a second as everyone knows there logo along with 'Sky dance production' is shown horizontally going across the screen, then it fades back into the scenes. Trailers show the audience who produced also it is a signature and because these companies are so big, they could persuade people to watch.
